At Abingdon Food and Drink Festival foodies will also be able to choose from a bewildering array of delicious international street food. It takes place at Rye Farm Meadow, near Abingdon Bridge on Saturday 25th June from 10am.

The festival is designed to be a relaxing family day by the river where tea and coffee, mouth-watering offerings and ice cream can be enjoyed in the extensive outdoor eating area whilst listening to folk music by Seth Bye and Katie Griffin and foot tapping popular music by Muddy Johnson. Of course great music can always be enhanced by outstanding beer or a superb wine whilst nibbling on an excellent local cheese.

The Abingdon Food and Drink Festival presents around a hundred stalls offering a wide range of some of the best local produce available for visitors to relish.

Dedicated connoisseurs will be attracted to the demonstration kitchen where celebrity chefs Alexis Thompson and Jenny Tschiesche present the finer points of professional cooking and no nonsense nutrition. Advice on the best kitchen appliances will be available from the NEFF exhibition in the Mobile Training Academy. Here NEFF food technologists will discuss the latest cooking technology. Nearby, experts from Dream Doors will be available to talk about cost effective opportunities for hassle-free kitchen make-overs. Entry to all of the cooking demonstrations and the appliance exhibition is free.

Children can design and bake their own pizzas right in the festival. Kids chocolate craft will be popular too. There will also be a range of other kid’s activities to keep them absorbed. In schools across Abingdon, now, aspiring young chefs are engaged in a Bake Off competition. The Bake-Off winners presentation will be in the demonstration kitchen.

Entry to the festival is free. Parking on the site will be £5, although there is free parking for two hours in the municipal parking around Abingdon.
