Chipping Campden International Music Festival 2015
The Chipping Campden International Music Festival (10-23 May) is now widely acknowledged as one of the finest and most important music festivals in the UK,
attracting visitors from as far afield as the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, alongside its loyal following within the UK.
As always the programme features some of the world's greatest musicians, who love performing in this small Cotswold town. The concerts take place in the wonderful setting of St. James' church, described by Alfred Brendel as "One of the finest acoustics I encountered in my 60 year career"
Artists appearing this year include Stile Antico, Steven Osborne, Carolyn Sampson, Joseph Middleton, Tasmin Little, Martin Roscoe, Paul Lewis, Takacs Quartet, Marc Andre Hamelin, Imogen Cooper, Henning Kraggerud, Adrian Brendel, Richard Goode, Jack Liebeck, The English Concert, Sophie Bevan, Susan Tomes, & Ruth Rogers
Education – For the eighth consecutive year the Festival’s own academy training orchestra will be formed under the inspirational directorship of Thomas Hull. The orchestra comprises 50% established professionals, drawn from the UK’s leading orchestras, and 50% graduate trainees selected by audition.
This year there were in excess of 120 applications for the 21 Academy places a sign that the academy is seen as a vital part of a young musicians journey from student to professional orchestral player.
