Jaguar Mean Business

Women motorists are set to outnumber their male counterparts, Kelly Gavaghan reviews the Jaguar XF
You certainly get that ‘Bond’ moment

The number of women motorists has risen dramatically and for the first time ever they are set to outnumber their male counterparts.

So with this fact in mind as I (a business woman and mother who loves cars and is writing this review of the stunning Jaguar XF 2.2L Luxury Diesel) will touch heavily on the style, safety and lifestyle aspect of the car as opposed to the macho, statistic heavy motoring reviews that bore the lingerie off of the lovely business ladies out there!

80% of all car buying decisions are influenced by women, and it is also a fact that more women are clocking up more miles than men due to combined business and personal car use. So from glamorous girl about town and high flying business woman to mum-on-the-move, the over-riding factors when choosing a car are brand, design, spaciousness, safety, quality of materials, sustainability of the car, park assist, infotainment systems, satellite navigation, mobile connectivity – in short, anything that makes ‘car-time’ easier.

Bond Girls

When I took delivery of my sleek Jaguar XF 2.2L Luxury Diesel I was impressed. My Jaguar was finished in sophisticated Stratus Grey (metallic) with 17” ‘Ursa’ alloys with a grey finish. The spacious interior is clad in sensuous black leather throughout, from the seats to the dashboard and headlining and is set off beautifully with a knurled aluminium ‘gear dial’ and air vents and black, carbon fibre shiny veneer giving it a luxurious and premium feel.

James Bond is synonymous with the Jaguar brand and you certainly get that ‘Bond’ moment as the keyless entry and ‘start’ button fires up the car. The air-vents slowly rise up as does the automatic, 8 speed gear dial and the Jaguar ‘big cat’ marque lights up on the screen. The futuristic greeting has the ‘wow’ factor and never fails to make people smile when they experience it first-hand.

The electronic seat adjustment ensures that you find your position of absolute comfort for your journey and has a memory that will adjust your seat to your favoured position each time you enter. The satellite navigation, mobile connectivity, cd/dvd player and radio are all powered through the central 7” screen infotainment system and are incredibly easy and self-explanatory to use.

The XF is also a dream to drive. It reaches 0 – 60mph in 9.8 seconds and has a good firm handling. As a 5ft 2” woman I feel safe and very secure driving this car with its balance of control and fluid steering.

Family friendly

The spacious boot has a 540 litre capacity and can easily take all the family’s luggage to the airport, cart the kids’ (and their friends’) essential hobby items around as well as the shopping. From a business perspective it is perfect for transporting vital files and samples and overnight bags for visiting clients around the country.

The all leather interior gives a beautiful luxurious feel yet is also ‘kid friendly’ with seats being completely wipe-able and highly durable. The cd/dvd infotainment system combined with the spacious interior makes any long journey enjoyable and more importantly comfortable for driver and passengers alike.

Get the family involved by going online to jaguar.co.uk to ‘build’ your own car, changing the interior and exterior finishes to get your dream XF 2.2L Luxury Diesel.

The verdict

The XF is a stylish and sporty looking car that never fails to turn heads when I am driving it and continues to delight all those that have been driven in her; including my daughter and her teenage friends. ‘Cool’ is the adjective that is used most commonly to describe my car by business people and family and friends alike. It ticks all the boxes in terms of style, performance and engineering. Economy-wise the XF 2.2L Luxury Diesel has a good combined fuel economy of 57.7mpg and Co2 emissions of 129 and has been voted Best Executive Car through the WhatCar? JD Power Awards 5 times and over 100 international awards while Jaguar wins ‘Best Manufacturer.’

Right now I don’t think you will find a better equivalent business model at such a fantastic price. The current offer for this model on contract hire is a £1,794 initial payment with 35 monthly rental payments at just £299 (Based on the standard model and specified T & C’s).
