St Helen and St Katharine A level Results 2015
"I am incredibly proud of all of the girls who have received their results today, both at A level and AS"
11 pupils achieved straight A* grades in all of their exams, with four obtaining four A* grades. Well over half of the year group obtained three or more A* or A grades. Emily Miller, who joined St Helen’s into the Sixth in 2013, said: “Before joining St Helen’s in the Sixth Form, I could never have imagined achieving these results. The teachers here have supported me and increased my confidence, which has enabled me to meet and exceed the grades for Geography at Durham.”
This year’s results showed the School’s continuing strength in STEM subjects with 63% of Physics students, 50% of Further Mathematicians and 48% of Biology students achieving the top A* grade.
A particular highlight was in the arts as our Theatre Studies students achieved the Department’s best ever results with all 13 achieving the top A* grade. Girls taking part in Chapters of Chekov at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival will have a spring in their step as they take to the boards.
Students also achieved success in Political and Social Science with 67% of Government and Politics students achieving an A* grade whilst 45% of Economics students also obtained the top grade.
St Helen’s is also celebrating a superb set of AS level results today with 27 girls achieving four or five A grades
Particular subject highlights include Chemistry (69% grade A), English Literature (63% grade A), Further Maths (91% grade A), French (69% grade A), Theatre Studies (64% grade A).
Mrs Rebecca Dougall, Headmistress, said: “I am incredibly proud of all of the girls who have received their results today, both at A level and AS. To see them achieve these grades, on top of all their other commitments and successes, is testimony to their hard work and to that of their teachers. It is particularly pleasing to see how well the girls who joined us for the Sixth Form have done.
"I wish all of our Upper 6 leavers the very best – universities are lucky to have the pleasure of working with these amazing young women."
