The Bodleian Libraries
The Bodleian Libraries, is located in the historic centre of Oxford on Broad Street.
The Old Library is available for hire in the evenings for corporate and private events. Its magnificent gothic Divinity School, the original examination room designed to impress, accommodates dinners for up to 120 or receptions for 200 guests. During the day, the 17th Century Convocation House, built to provide a distinguished meeting place for the University’s supreme governing body, still offers a grand meeting venue today.
New for 2015 is the completely transformed Weston Library (formerly known as Bodleian’s New Library), featuring a splendid modern entrance atrium with a colonnade overlooking Broad Street. This Blackwell Hall will be available for hire in the evenings and will provide one of Oxford’s largest venues seating 250 for dinner or 450 guests for drinks. The state-of-the-art new lecture theatre will be available during the day for 120 guests on comfortable tiered seating. There is also a wonderful new roof terrace where drinks can be served while guests enjoy the stunning views over the ancient spires of Oxford.
Tours & Events, Operations & Marketing Manager, Emma Lear says: “Our Front of House and Back Office teams have been expanded and professionally trained to coordinate and operate events at both venues. In addition to our ever popular historic rooms, we are now able to offer increased capacity in Blackwell Hall and enhanced presentation facilities in the new lecture theatre. I’m convinced the stunning views over Oxford from the roof terrace and visits to the new exhibition galleries will impress every guest at events hosted at the Bodleian Library.”
