Westgate Oxford: Countdown to the new opening
Not only will the reopened Westgate Shopping Centre host over 100 shops, but a new rooftop terrace will be opened with cafés, bars and restaurants
Art house cinema chain Curzon will also be opening a branch, giving Oxfordians a much-needed boost in our city’s entertainment options.
31% of the centre’s units have already been let, and brands confirmed as opening in the new centre include Superdry, River Island, Schuh and Goldsmiths. The first restaurant to be confirmed is Sticks’n’Sushi, a Japanese chain which started in Denmark and currently only has UK branches in London. Andreas Karlsson from Sticks’n’Sushi explains why they’ve chosen to open in the new Westgate:
“When we first came to the UK, Oxford was on our top list of places to be so we’re really excited Westgate Oxford will be one of our first restaurants outside of London. What makes the Westgate a unique destination for us is its positioning – the rooftop terrace will have breathtaking views over the famous Oxford city skyline, making it the perfect setting”.
We can’t argue with him on that. The new centre (which will cover some 18 acres) opens in October 2017.
