Woodfield Brady Architects
Woodfield Brady Architects commissions range from bespoke, crafted extensions and refurbishment, to larger scale redevelopment, typically working within sensitive rural and urban settings with heritage assets such as historic barns, Victorian hospitals and even water towers!
The work of practice directors Allan Woodfield and Kevin Brady has been recognised regionally and at the highest national levels, including RIBA Awards and short-listing in the Crown Estate Award – one of the RIBA’s highest conservation honours celebrated alongside the Stirling Prize.
Every project is director-led from inception to completion: typically, whilst one director will directly manage the design and detailing process of the project, the philosophy of the practice is one of collaboration – both within the studio and with the valued expertise of the wider consultant team.
The success of every project is reliant on open dialogue and consultation with the client throughout the development of the project. From initial meeting to successful project handover, the architect’s role is to interpret the client’s initial brief and aspirations, and encourage their ongoing participation throughout the project process.
Communication is key to understanding the development of any design, and the practice utilises a wide variety of presentation techniques from traditional sketches and drawings, to physical models and computer generated images to assist the process.
‘Our approach to every project involves a thorough analysis of the site and surrounding context, together with the client brief, budget and programme.’
Such an approach avoids any temptation to fall back on a ‘house style’; instead we strive to identify the unique constraints and opportunities for each project, enabling fresh and innovative solutions that are rooted in the context of each location.
The practice embraces a holistic approach to sustainability from the outset of each project, seeking to harness passive energy measures before active technologies.
Remaining mindful of the project budget, continuous interrogation of the design serves to deliver added value and exploit hidden opportunities.
Ultimately, the aim is to deliver quality driven projects that fulfil a given brief on time and within budget,
whilst bringing delight to occupants and visitors alike.
